Best Of: Survivor Series 1988

Blake Knox Blake's Best Of

In the newest edition of Blake’s Best Of, we look at the WWF’s annual Thanksgiving special in Survivor Series 1988.

As usual, it was all about the tag team elimination matches, and there were a few that were a lot of fun.

Let’s dive into the best of Survivor Series 1988.

Another awesome assortment of tag team talent

The 20-man tag at the first Survivor Series was awesome, and while some people prefer that match to this one, they’re both very entertaining. The biggest takeaway from this match was the double turn with Mr. Fuji turning on Demolition and the Powers of Pain basically deciding to make him their manager. It was good stuff. But the talent in the ring was just insane, with The Rockers, The Hart Foundation, The Brain Busters, The British Bulldogs, and The Fabulous Rougeaus among the group.

Jake Roberts tries to overcome four men

Roberts teamed up with Tito Santana, Scott Casey, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, and Ken Patera to take on Andre the Giant, Mr. Perfect, Rick Rude, Harley Race, and Dino Bravo. Well, Race got eliminated on the bad guys’ team while all four of Roberts’ partners got eliminated on the good guys’ team. That left Roberts as a huge underdog, but his performance was great in trying to fight back to win the match even with Perfect and Bravo being the eventual winners. However, Roberts was awesome in what was a really enjoyable match.
